The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 12. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school and having an awesome school year.

Providing care for students at school
Thanks to our partnership with Kintegra Health, we offer a telehealth clinic here at our school. Students, who are experiencing a minor illness or condition, can be seen by a medical provider virtually.

The Board of Education will meet on Monday, August 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the Gaston County Schools Central Office, 943 Osceola Street, Gastonia. The public is invited to attend. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can watch it live on YouTube, the Gaston County Schools website, or Spectrum Channel 21.

School starts Wednesday, August 12! We’re excited to welcome students back for a great year.
Seventh and eighth grade students are invited to orientation on Monday, August 10. Students and their parents can meet teachers and tour the school from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. It’s a great way to get ready for the new school year!

Our school exceeded academic growth expectations in both 2023 and 2024. In addition, high school courses such as Math 1 give students a head start on their path to graduation.

Our school offers exciting clubs, including art, Beta Club and robotics. Students can also take part in Math Elite and Battle of the Books.
Athletics
John Chavis Middle School has a strong athletics program with successful cheerleading, softball and baseball teams.
